Steinkopf

50km north of springbok

Originally a mission station founded by the Rhenish Mission Society for the Nama people in 1819. Today Steinkopf serves a large communal stock farming area and many inhabitants work on the outlying mines in Namakwa.
ATTRACTIONS
Dutch Reformed Church The church has been renovated and hosts artworks of famous South African artists.
Klipfontein The R382 leads to the ruins of the old hotel, an old water tower and the graves of British soldiers who died in the Anglo-Boer War.
Kinderlê A burial site of 32 Nama children who were massacred by Khoisan
while the Nama elders were attending church in the mid 1800’s.
Immanuel Succulent Nursery Numerous succulents as well as arts and crafts and a tea garden.
